Waikaraka Park Speedway Transformation
The Waikaraka Park Speedway redevelopment repositioned an existing regional motorsport venue through a staged programme of operational, infrastructure and public environment upgrades designed to support the long-term future of speedway and multi-use event infrastructure in Auckland.
The project formed part of a wider venue consolidation strategy, requiring the integration of specialist motorsport infrastructure, operational continuity, stakeholder coordination and long-term venue planning within a highly constrained public and politically sensitive environment.
Stage 1 of the redevelopment focused on critical racing infrastructure including track geometry, safety systems, pit operations, public interface upgrades and supporting venue infrastructure works.
CPRW’s involvement extended beyond conventional architectural scope, integrating direct operational understanding of motorsport environments, event functionality and venue operations into the wider planning and infrastructure strategy. This specialist knowledge informed the coordination of racing requirements, operational performance and long-term venue usability throughout the redevelopment process.
While centred on immediate infrastructure and operational requirements, the project was also planned to support future staged development of spectator facilities, fan experience and wider venue amenity over time, establishing a long-term framework for the continued evolution of the venue.
The project reflects CPRW’s broader approach to built environment transformation — integrating operational understanding, stakeholder alignment and long-term strategic value within complex existing environments undergoing significant change.
