Architecture – Ladies Mile, Queenstown

CPRW worked with Candor 3 and Patch Landscape Design to produce an Expression of Interest application for a Special Housing area in Queenstown – one of New Zealand’s fastest growing centres.

The proposal involves the establishment of a comprehensively designed mixed use neighbourhood that is guided by the QLDC masterplan for the development of the Ladies Mile area.

Overall, the proposal involves the creation of 245 new residential units, commercial, retail activities and provision for a school site and a public open space over an 18 hectare area.

CPRW developed a mixture of residential dwelling typologies including standalone housing, terrace housing and three level walk up apartments, offering living solutions to a wide variety of people.

The masterplan builds on the existing heritage character, by retaining and repurposing the historic Glenpanel Homestead while maximising the development’s relationship with the surrounding open areas and larger landscape by maintaining view shafts to the Remarkables, and incorporating public shared parks and recreation areas.

The village centre is located at the hub of the development, providing local convenience and amenity for residents, as well as those travelling along Ladies Mile.
